A Word of Support from Our YOF Board Chair

A Word of Support from Our YOF Board Chair

During a desperate season of my life, I stumbled across a social media post about Your Other Brothers. I had been hiding and hurting for years, terrified of talking to anyone about my sexuality. But I believe God brought me to this group of men at just the right time.

Years have passed since that fateful day, and it would be difficult to overstate how much I’ve grown and gained from this community. I’ve learned so much from these men! We’ve sung together, prayed together, discussed so many topics, and read so many books. These brothers have challenged me and expanded my understanding of how to accept grace and live in unity. So many of their stories have shaped mine.

I am now grateful for this opportunity to support the formation of Your Other Family as a nonprofit ministry by serving as our board’s chairperson. I believe that there are so many more Christians out there who would benefit from joining or otherwise partnering with our community of men and women.

I’d like to invite you to support us as we seek to create content, build community, and involve Christians in this ministry of YOF, which includes Your Other Brothers and Your Other Sisters. Your prayers and donations can help us build a space for many more people just like me.

Would you consider donating today? We’re praying for monthly support from 200 individuals or couples in our first fiscal year. We’d be honored to have both your spiritual and financial support. For community membership and giving, shoot us an inquiry on YOB or YOS, and let’s chat! We’d love to welcome you into our nest soon.

Matt

I’m the board chair for Your Other Family. I have a slight southern accent, an addiction to sweet tea, and a smile on my face every time I hear James Taylor sing about “going to Carolina.” The older I get, I find myself resonating more and more with that old “Footprints in the Sand” poem. And I love reflecting and writing about all the whens and the ways God has carried me.
